LANI YAMAMOTO is a writer and illustrator based in Reykjavík. Her first novel, Ours and Others', was shortlisted for the 2020 Novel Prize, and her picture books for children have been translated into 14 languages, awarded the Icelandic Women's Literature Prize, and nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize and the Nordic Council Children's and Young People's Literature Prize. She is the recipient of a 2017 Benediktson Fellowship at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and the 2021 ArtAngel/Library of Water writer's residency in Stykkishólmur. Lani studied psychology at Bryn Mawr College, filmmaking at the London Film School, and holds master's degrees in both creative writing and the study of religions from the University of Oxford.
